Skyline Sunday Scoop – Week #6

Hey Skyline!

What a crazy week! From moving the L-S meet indoors to beating Overlook to Swim for Life to a sweaty and then rain-shortened Manheim Fast and Furious. Let’s hope things slow down for our final week of whole team practices. Please read through the email carefully. You can also see it in the News section of the website.

  • Final week practice times
  • Google Site to upload photos
  • Future needs –Treasurer

Overlook Meet

Congratulations to the Girls Open Relay team for setting a new team record and congratulations to all the swimmers on a hard-fought meet. What an exciting win!

Save a Life

Thank you to everyone who swam on Friday. It was so wonderful to see so many kids swimming laps and then enjoying some special treats afterwards - all the while raising money to fight cancer. We’d like to thank Giant and their manager who donated the donuts. We’d also like to thank everyone who gave so far (donations are due this Friday – Speizer mailbox). The total as of the end of the day on Friday was over $1000! Way to go Skyline!

Dual Meet – Tuesday at Woodridge

Our final dual meet is at Woodridge Swim Club, 50 W 7th St, Lititz. Arrival time will be 5:15. We still need the following volunteers: 6 timers, 1 scorer, 3 stagers, 2 finish judges, 4 stroke and turn judges (must be trained).

Divisionals – Adamstown – Saturday, July 24

Any swimmer may swim in this meet. There are NO qualifying times. It is kind of like our "Team Championship" meet. Sign-up on Swimtopia is now closed so if you need to make any changes please contact Coach Barb. Remember – for Divisionals, everyone on the team can swim.

The 11/12,13/14, and 15 and over age groups swim in the morning, while 9/10 and 8 & unders swim in the afternoon. We currently need 3 timers in the afternoon. Here is the link to sign up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090449acac2aa64-pm

End of Year Banquet – Eden Resort – Sunday, July 25

If you plan to attend, all papers, along with a check for payment needs to be placed in the Speizer mailbox by TOMORROW - Monday, July 19. The doors open at 4:45. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Jill Speizer at [email protected]

All League Championships (July 30 and 31) – Ephrata Community Pool

This meet is the final meet of the season and does have qualifying times for the individual session which is held Saturday, July 31 in the morning. It usually ends by 1 PM. Coach Barb will send out a list on Wednesday of everyone who has qualified and she will let swimmers know at practice if they are close to qualifying. Divisional meet times do count towards qualifying for leagues.

THE THE RELAY PORTION ON FRIDAY EVENING DOES NOT HAVE QUALIFYING TIMES. We are allowed to enter up to 2 relays in each age group and they have both a free relay and a medley relay. So if your swimmer(s) are available to swim Friday night for relays and want to be part of this final meet, please mark your swimmer as available for the relay session on Swimtopia. Coach Barb will choose from the available swimmers the two best relays (If we have at least 8 swimmers available) to enter the meet's relay portion. The swimmers DO NOT have to "have" the individual qualifying times to participate in the relays Friday evening. WE NEED EVERYONE TO LOG ON TO SWIMTOPIA (EITHER THE APP OR THE WEBSITE) AND EITHER COMMIT OR DECLINE FOR YOUR SWIMMER FOR BOTH THE RELAYS ON FRIDAY NIGHT AND THE INDIVIDUAL EVENTS ON SATURDAY. Any questions, please contact Coach Barb

Final Week of Practice – July 26-30

Practice times for the final week are only for kids swimming at the league meets. Practice times changes so take note: 11 and older 9-10 and 10 and under are 10-10:45.

Future Needs

We are so thankful for those who have stepped up to be trained on the computer and the Colorado Timing Systems and for the concessions coordinator position. We are still looking for someone to step in to be treasurer. Also, if you might be interested in serving on the Skyline Board, contact Linda for more information. We are always looking for new board members to join and help out.

Have a great week everyone! Stay tuned for any updates throughout the week.
